About

This is all a way to keep tabs on my reading, listening and watching video habits, to help me remember stuff!

Some, but not all of this may also appear under my Lady Fancifull Amazon UK reviewer profile or Lady Fancifull Amazon USA, and many more reviews not on this blog appear there.

Here, I post what I have appreciated, there, also lurks stuff I may not have enjoyed so much! Any book, music or film reviewed here will be a clear 4 star minimum, in my opinion, though I choose not to star rate on the blog, just recommend

I’m particularly interested in literary fiction, what I suppose is roughly considered ‘mind, body, spirit’, complementary health, philosophy. Musical tastes run not exclusively to often very dead composers, and film interests more often than not are European

And a very special thanks must go to my fellow blogger, fellow Amazon reviewer and friend FictionFan (see her below to click through to her blog) She gets the award for most patient explanation of the delights and challenges of bloggery and helped me through HTML hurdles, links, tags, indexes and the like. Without her saintly patience I would be bald and unposted!

  1. Lovely blog! I look forward to following your posts 🙂

  2. That’s pretty quick actually – I think my first post took a week!

  3. Haha! Thank you so much – you’re most kind! And the blog is looking beautiful…:-)

  4. Your reviews have a tangible passion, some of them read like poetry too.

  5. I think I may have “unfollowed” you by mistake. I hit X on my edit page, and it deleted some blogs I am following. Sorry. I fixed it now.

  6. Yes, Jackson’s humor has an edge, as the titles suggest. Lady Fanciful, I hope we stay in touch.

  7. I just wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog via 4amWriter’s recent post. I’ve recently joined NetGalley, too, but so far have only had a chance to review a few books from them. I like their concept very much, and it’s a service I’d like to see expand. Happy reading!

  8. Thank you for stopping by FrayedDustjackets and I have to say I really enjoyed the description on you “about” page. Wish you much luck with your blog.

  9. I want to thank you so much for recommending The End of the Affair to me… I fatefully turned the first page and everything else was forgotten until the end! Simply wonderful and thought-provoking!

    • Ah Cleopatra you are so very very welcome. It is one of my favourite books, so it is a real joy to be able to spread its allure to others.

I shall look forward to your review!

  10. I’m impressed by how organised you are with your reviews – putting them into categories takes a lot of thought. It must take you a fair amount of time to manage the blog as well as this
PS thanks for visiting my blog and following me

    • Thanks for those kind comments. I got spurred with the idea quite early on so it’s quite smooth to do. Am not that organised by any means ‘in real’ where the books are in higgledy piles on the shelves and I have no idea where to find them. Virtual organisation is a doddle in comparison!

  11. I’ve been reading some of your book reviews. Your book shelf must be amazing 🙂

  12. I nominated you for a Liebster award! Visit http://baxtersbooknook.wordpress.com/2014/05/12/the-liebster-award/ to check it out! 🙂

  13. Hi! We nominated your blog for a Liebster Award 🙂 http://brokegirlsgoout.wordpress.com/2014/05/19/the-liebster-award/

Hi! I hope you don’t mind but I have linked some of your reviews on to my latest post. It is your reviews of the books on the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction.

  16. I like the range of your blog as it reflects what is obviously an interesting person, What we read may be somewhat different but you may find what I read to be of some interest.

    • Indeed I DO! How can I resist another blogger with a similar visual sensibility to my own (I’m always disposed to Chateau bloggers, there’s something about that clear white space which I find wonderfully calming and restful for the eyes, giving me space to properly appreciate the words without being overstimulated by coloured backgrounds!)

  17. Looking forward to your posts!

  18. You’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award! https://brontespageturners.wordpress.com/2016/05/10/the-liebster-award/

  19. Hello! Hello! Hello! Just popping in to see what you’re up to and find that you haven’t posted in awhile. Are you on holiday?

    • Hello, I wish I were! I am hoping to start reviewing my reading backlog soon work involved some major projects involving the creation of new study material and I could not bear to spend more time still at the PC. HopeHopeHopeHopefully reaching the end of ticking clock deadlines yesterday will give me space to frolic in bloggy fashion soon. And visit others!
